Hello Writing-Commissions!
I know it's been a little quiet lately but I'm hoping to change that!
So, let's get started with a quick recap.
Writing-Commissions currently has 118 members and 158 watchers. Not bad for a niche market, right?
The Featured Folder is open to all members. The Founder and I are the only ones who have submitted something so far and I don't want it to look like we're the only ones allowed to. Before you submit anything, please read the rules about it. That's found here: fav.me/d6k7jp3.
We've had virtually no problems with people submitting things to the wrong folder, so please keep up the good work!
Wondering what happened to the questionnaire? The questionnaire closed November 1st with 23 respondents. The brief summary and the full graphic summary will be uploaded tomorrow. I have everything typed up already, but I don't want this journal to be too long or to spam the group with multiple journals so I'll upload it tomorrow.
But what about the giveaways? There were two giveaways: one for those who filled out the questionnaire and one for those who advertised the questionnaire. Congratulations to...
...
WitheredPages! Thank you for advertising the questionnaire. You win 10 !
and
ElithianFox! Thank you for filling out the questionnaire. The original prize was for a few short commissions from writers who had volunteered. Because it's been so long since I asked, I don't want to hold them to an out of date obligation. Instead, you win 150 to be used on a writing commission, preferably from a writer within the group. You'll hash out the details with the writer and then let me know who it is and how much and I'll pay. Feel free to commission more than one writer as long as the total price doesn't exceed 150 .
WitheredPages and ElithianFox, you have a week to comment, note imaginary-rose or the group to collect your prizes. Otherwise, I will draw another name.
And for upcoming events.
We'll be creating a 'Writers Wanted' journal for those looking for authors to tell what they want and then the writers can contact them
More consistent Writing Challenges. I'd like to include tiny prizes as well to encourage more participation. Mostly art, but occasionally points as well.
Excited? Let us know what you think!

Beware Of These Users
This journal will be updated and reused when a writer or commissioner violates our guidelines. You may view them on the front page, but the main one we will be paying special attention to is:
Bans will be given if anyone does the following: harasses, scams, steals, or rude to other members. If you have an issue with any of these things, please note us and we'll deal with it.
We will be giving the reasoning for the bans as well so you can make your own judgments. But friendly advice: if any of these users contact you, the best would be block and ignore.

Reasoning: Scammer and beyond rude to a potential commissioner.
For those looking to buy writing commissions...
...please be careful about who you shelf out money to.
Be cautious about blank / empty accounts in particular. The reasons we've added the rule to have at least one piece of writing submitted is to protect potential commissioners against those who would scam. (Plus, it was suggested by a kind deviant a while back who was looking out for you guys too.)
I was personally noted near the end of 2018 about a writer who was blatantly rude to a potential customer. The way they handled it was suspicious, especially since their account was (somewhat) new and completely blank. I noted this person to warn them about their actions in a polite way, to wh
Regarding Join Requests
Hey folks. I've noticed a lot of people not following the rules when it comes to submitting join requests. I will state it here so it's not as easily missed, because, to be honest, it's getting a little frustrating having to repeat myself over and over when the rules are right on our front page. x'DD;;
In order to join our group, in your join request, you must link your commission sheet AND one example of your writing (hosted on deviantART) to be accepted.
It's not good enough to say "oh, my links are on my page". You must link them in your join request.
Thank you for reading, and have a good day. c:
Small PSA!
Hey guys! c: Your founder here with a little PSA for our membership and watchers alike.
If you've been scammed by a member of this group, please send us a note. No matter how big or small they are, I want to protect this community and make it honest. Scammers and / or those who lie will not be tolerated. Even if you have a concern about a writer, again, send us a note.
As your founder, if someone is scammed or expresses concern, I personally will look into it and appropriate action will be taken.
Also: If you've been scammed by a writer who isn't a part of our community, I also ask you to note us! I, again, will look into it and block them
